An easy cycling break following the young Danube through scenic, lower Bavaria to Passau, the city of three rivers on the Austrian border. This is a fertile region dotted with some great towns and villages. On this route you’ll immerse yourself in Bavarian culture and have plenty of opportunities to sample the region’s hearty local cuisine and world-famous beers.
Straubing
Along the way you’ll stay in the World Heritage city of Regensburg and the old, Baroque town of Straubing. You’ll also spend a night in charming Hengersberg before reaching Passau – the ‘city of three rivers’ where the Danube meets the Ilz and Inn.
This is a leisurely tour that covers around 100 miles in total over three full days of cycling. The majority of the route is on flat, smooth and traffic-free cycle paths along the banks of the Danube, so anyone with a basic level of fitness can enjoy this trip.
